The Director of HR Strategy & Operational Excellence is a Senior leader and strategic advisor to the CHRO, responsible for driving enterprise-wide HR transformation, operational excellence, and strategic alignment across the HR function. This role serves as a key architect of HR’s future-state capabilities, ensuring the function is agile, data-driven, and positioned to deliver measurable business impact.
This role is responsible for providing strategic and operational support to the HR division by focusing on enhancing HR’s effectiveness through planning, coordinating, communications and implementation of initiatives. The Director will ensure that HR processes and infrastructure are scalable, compliant, and aligned with the organization's strategic goals. This role manages special projects and enterprise initiatives ensuring alignment with overall business goals. Responsibilities include overseeing and optimizing the HR function through process improvements and automation, including the targeted use of AI. This role also provides oversight to risk management, compliance, financial planning and reporting for the division.
Job Responsibilities:
- Act as a strategic partner to the CHRO and HR centers of excellence (e.g., Talent, Total Rewards, Learning & Development).
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence across the HR function.
- Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of HR operational processes to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Manage complex, enterprise-wide initiatives ensuring timely execution and alignment with priorities.
- Oversee enterprise HR operations and strategic enablement including budget planning, vendor management, compliance reporting, quarterly business reporting and HR policy governance.
- Lead HR innovation through the design, development and implementation of the digital HR transformation strategy, including the effective and appropriate use of AI within the function.
- Partners with Talent and Total Rewards to ensure operational strategies support workforce planning and talent optimization.
- Prepares CHRO briefings and materials for board-level discussions.
- Develop and monitor KPIs to evaluate HR operational performance and impact and identify improvement areas.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate HR-related operational and compliance risks through effective partnership with the Business Risk Owner for HR and the COEs.
- Lead communication efforts related to broad divisional updates. Ensure consistency in brand and content; test effectiveness of various communication channels through user feedback and awareness metrics.
- Serves as a key liaison to the CHRO and executive leadership, translating business strategy into HR operational priorities. Provide insights and recommendations to the CHRO and executive leadership based on trends and predictive analytics.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, HR management or a related field.
- Graduate degree or MBA preferred
- 10+ years of management experience in HR or related work.
- Ability to influence and collaborate with executive and senior stakeholders.
- Strong business acumen and ability to align HR strategy with enterprise goals.
- Ability to interpret the needs of various stakeholders, including executive leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to develop clear, actionable steps in support of an overall business strategy.
- Experience engaging, inspiring, and influencing people and teams with different skills and backgrounds.
- Ability to lead strategic initiatives and operational improvements in complex, matrixed organizations.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen, with experience managing complex budgets and leveraging data for strategic insights.
- Strong understanding of the processes, policies and systems in HR.
- Effective team player, networker and leader.
- Knowledge of HR laws, regulations, and best practices.
- Exceptional project management and communication skills.
- Proficient in HRIS systems, data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Relevant certifications such as PMP, PHR or SPHR
Salary Range:
$156,562.00 - $257,207.50Individual base pay may vary on additional factors such as the candidate’s experience, job-related skills, relevant education, geographic location, and other specific business and organizational needs.
