The Business Banking Sales Manager is responsible for leading a team of Business Bankers, driving loan production, and maximizing fee income while ensuring strong client relationships. This role requires expertise in credit analysis, loan structuring, and risk management. The incumbent will execute business growth strategies, expand market presence, and enhance the bank’s small business segment.
Job Responsibilities:
- Lead, mentor, and coach 3-5 Business Bankers, providing performance management and strategic guidance.
- Oversee team sales goals, business development activities, and loan pipeline progress.
- Train and mentor Business Bankers, enhancing their lending skills, sales strategy, and relationship building.
- Partner with the Director of Small Business Sales to execute business growth initiatives.
- Build a referral network of professional associations, accountants, attorneys, commercial real estate brokers, business brokers; drive new business growth, including loan origination and deposit generation.
- Develop financial solutions for business clients, including lending, deposit, and treasury management services.
- Structure and present business banking proposals, ensuring alignment with client needs and credit policies.
- Maintain an active sales pipeline, focusing on loan production and portfolio growth and performance.
- Oversee an active loan portfolio, ensuring compliance with loan terms, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner with credit and portfolio management teams to facilitate timely renewals and client updates.
- Monitor portfolio retention and loan performance to ensure credit quality and mitigate risk.
- Conduct comprehensive financial analysis, including financial statements, credit reports, and assess cash flow.
- Develop loan structures, repayment and collateral strategies, meeting client needs and bank risk framework.
- Negotiate loan terms while ensuring compliance with regulatory and risk management guidelines.
- Serve as client relationship manager deepening client engagement through outreach and financial advisory.
- Cross-sell banking solutions, including treasury management, personal banking, and wealth management.
- Ensure exceptional customer service and proactively address client needs.
- Represent WSFS Bank at networking events, Chamber of Commerce events, and industry associations.
- Develop and maintain a strong presence in the local business community, driving brand awareness and business growth.
- Deliver one-on-one and group presentations to clients, team members, and stakeholders.
- Collaborate effectively across departments to enhance the customer experience and internal efficiencies.
- Make sound business decisions; assess and determine client needs, financial capacity, and lending risks.
- Independently structure, negotiate, and approve loan packages within designated authority.
- Prioritize and manage a team’s workload while ensuring strategic alignment with business objectives.
- Analyze complex financial situations, identifying creative financing strategies that align with both client needs and the bank’s objectives.
- Develop business plans and sales strategies to optimize market share and revenue growth.
- Continuously enhance internal processes to improve loan processing efficiency and customer service.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field preferred; equivalent business banking work experience considered.
- A minimum of 10 years of business banking experience, business development, and relationship management
- Must have strong business development skills and extensive experience originating and managing business loans.
- Must have in-depth knowledge of commercial and consumer lending, deposit products, and treasury solutions.
- Must be proficient with financial statement analysis, credit structuring, and risk assessment.
- Must have strong leadership and coaching abilities, with experience managing high performing sales teams.
- Must have excellent oral and written communication skills, presentation abilities, and CRM utilization.
- Must have a sound understanding of Bank Secrecy Act (BSA) and Anti-Money Laundering (AML) regulations.
- Must have a demonstrated history of meeting and exceeding sales and production goals.
- Must have experience coaching and mentoring Business Bankers and Business Relationship Managers.
- Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and CRM tools for sales tracking and pipeline management.
